How are Appointments Scheduled?
The office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.
Please make every effort to keep scheduled appointments. Once an appointment is scheduled, it is considered confirmed. If an appointment needs to be rescheduled, a 48 hour notice is appreciated. There may be a missed appointment charge if 24
hour notice is not given.
Do I Stay with My Child During the Visit?
The initial appointment (at age 1-2) is always conducted with the parent present. As your child begins to be ready to separate from you as the parent (3-4 years of age), we ask that you allow your child to accompany our staff through the dental visit.
Insurance & Payment Procedures
Dental care for children is an important part of their total health program. We believe that caring for your child's teeth should not become a financial burden for you. In the event that full payment is not possible at the time services are rendered, we have some payment methods that may assist you.
If you have dental insurance you are aware that these plans vary greatly. We will help you review your benefits. For your convenience, we also accept major credit cards.
Fee & Payment Policy
We request that account balances be cleared within 60 days of service. You may use your Visa or MasterCard. Payment arrangements are available upon special request.
Monthly billing is not a part of our usual routine, and therefore, payment is requested at the time of treatment. If the treatment requires several visits we will provide you with an estimate. By avoiding monthly billing, we are striving to keep the cost of dental care down. Your consideration in this regard will greatly help. Thank you!
We are happy that you have dental insurance for your child. Since there are many insurance companies and they all cover at different rates, it is very confusing for the dental office and the parent to know what insurance will actually pay. To keep things as simple as possible and less confusing, our office policy is to charge the same fee to all patients so it is as fair as possible.
We applaud every milestone.
FIRST PEDIATRIC DENTAL VISIT
Dr. Bigler and his team love working with children and are dedicated to great dental experiences.
We, along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry,
recommend you bring your child in by his or her first birthday.
During your first visit, you will be introduced to our Pediatric Dental Team, given an office tour and and given an opportunity to discuss your child's unique smile and ways to keep it beautiful for years to come.
Depending on the age of your child, he or she will either be given a knee-to-knee examination (where your baby’s head will rest on our doctor’s knee while their body is on your lap) or a regular exam in the doctor’s chair.
We request that you complete our First Visit Forms prior to arriving for your appointment. Please bring them with you to your child's first visit. This helps our office keep your and everyone else’ scheduled visit on time.
Oral hygiene instructions will also be given with suggestions to help your child care for their own teeth. In most cases, we will also clean their teeth on this visit, and provide an evaluation that will outline any existing dental problems and proposed treatment.

What is a Pediatric Dentist?
A Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. Bigler, is a specialist dedicated to the oral health of children and the monitoring of their facial growth and development. Our office is designed for treating children from infancy through adolescence, as well as the medically and the physically compromised. In our opinion, taking your child to see a pediatric dental specialist is as important as taking them to see a pediatrician.
Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?
A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education.
We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their ”cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.
Establishing Your Child’s Dental Home
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...

We appreciate our patients and their families!
"My 3 yr old daughter just had her 1st dentist appointment today and it was a very positive enjoyable experience for both her, myself and my 8 month old daughter who isn't a patient yet. The dentist was informative, courteous, and gentle but firm with my child. She didn't think anything about the experience except that she did as she was asked and she got a nice prize at the end of the visit. The hygenist sat on the floor and played with her while he explained his assessment of the state of her teeth. It was efficient and well conducted. I am so glad I chose to try this dentist office. Thank you"

"Just returned from dental check-ups with our 4 children and wanted to thank Dr. Bigler and his staff for another pleasant and positive experience. Our children have been patients at Crossroads Pediatric Dentistry since our 18 years old started seeing Dr. Bigler. The hygienists have always been friendly and non-threatening, which makes it easy for them to go back for their exams alone. Dr. Bigler has done an amazing job with our oldest, who has some special needs. He has been accommodating for his needs and always patient. Just thankful our children enjoy going to the dentist, one battle we don’t have to fight!"
